My Values
To remain diligent in holding myself and others accountable for hard, high quality work that is honest and works to be inclusive and conscientious of the people it serves. To keep an active love and excitement for learning and adventure as I move forward into my professional career.
Kindness
There is never a time where being kind will hurt you. You never know what someone is going through behind the scenes, so being kind to everyone I meet is something I hold extremely important to me. Always to kind to others.
Honesty
Since I was a little girl, my parents have always reinforced that honesty is the best policy. In any profession, this is important, however, in the business and communications world, being honest and open with consumers is at the center of the industry. Trust has dropped tremendously in recent years, so one of my most important values is to keep honesty at the forefront of my personal and professional life.
Respect
One of the first things we all learn is The Golden Rule: treat others the way you want to be treated. Without respect for friends, family, professors, peers and even strangers, it is hard to accomplish things. I believe that every individual deserves respect, and that it should be given but also earned.
Collaboration
While we can all accomplish great things, collaboration can lead to accomplishing things we could never do on our own. After spending four years at Syracuse University in two of the most collaborative colleges, I have come to value collaboration immensely. Being able to utilize individuals for their strengths and help them where they may struggle leads to stronger quality of work. Throughout my professional career, I will look for organizations that value collaboration and allow the sharing of ideas as part of the core of their business.
Allyship
2020 was the most challenging year in modern history, and one of the main reasons for this was the social movements highlighting the deeply rooted systemic racism and inequity in our society. As a white woman, I understand that I will never live the experiences of my BIPOC counterparts, but the last year has shown me the importance of allyship. As I enter the professional world, I will continue to be an ally to those around me, and understand that while we may be different, we are all human and deserve the right to live as we choose. I may not always understand, but I am committed to being an active listener and continually educating myself.
